Palacio de Sal, Salar de Uyuni, Bolivia
Bolivia’s Palacio de Sal has used salt from the popular Salar de Uyuni salt flats and created a luxury hotel right in the middle of the Bolivian desert. The entire 48,500-square-foot hotel is made out of salt and the 30 stylish rooms have wooden flooring along with a private tiled bath. Even the windows of the dining room offer a panaromic view of the salt flats and their meals include the house specialty, salt chicken and locally sourced llama and lamb. The golf course features all the mod cons including a steam room, dry sauna, whirlpool and its own saltwater baths.
