Montaña Mágica Lodge, Chile
Situated in the Huilo-Huilo Nature Reserve in the Chilean Patagonia, the Montaña Mágica Lodge hotel is built in the image of a mountain using local materials including lakes and waterfall. Also known as a ‘ gigantic man-made volcano’, the hotel is in the middle of a rainforest and is easily accessible via its hanging rope bridge or zip line. Promoting eco-tourism, the hotel has 12 rooms and capacity for 40 people each built by artisans from the neighbouring communities of Puerto Fuy and Neltume. Around the hotel, one can visit the Huilo Huilo, a private nature reserve which is part of a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. In winters, the mountain-shaped hotel looks like one giant ice cream cone.
