The Hyderabad Convention and Visitors Bureau (HCVB) is gearing up for the United Nations Conference on bio diversity which will be held from 1-19, October 2012 at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC). “Around 8,000 delegates from 192 countries are expected to attend this conference. This is one of the biggest world congregations ever to be held and the fact that it is happening in Hyderabad is a great opportunity to boost the city’s image as a major MICE destination,” said Jalil Khan, CEO, HCVB – India.
The state government is making all the arrangements to ensure that the conference takes place smoothly. Khan added, “The UN team is working with the department of forests and the ministry of environment as the conference is about bio-diversity. HCVB is also co-ordinating with hotels to facilitate accommodation. Every partner hotel will have shuttle services. The tourism department will also be working with us to ensure that everything works out seamlessly. Even the Prime Minister’s Office is closely involved.”
“Hyderabad will be the cynclosure of all eyes as the topic of the conference is an important one for everyone in the world and for our future generations. So ensuring that the conference goes off smoothly is a matter of prestige for the government,” he concluded.
