Ecuador focuses efforts to attract Indian tourists
The Embassy of the Republic of Ecuador, in cooperation with Aska Tourism and Consultancy Services organised an event to promote tourism and trade between the two countries in New Delhi, recently. The initiative to strengthen ties between the two countries was backed by Jammu and Kashmir government, which was also the state partner. To further support the idea, Tassaduq Mufti, minister of tourism, J&K, along with Mohammad Ashraf Mir, minister of food, civil supplies and consumer affairs, J&K, marked their presence as the guests of honour at the event.
Inviting people to visit Ecuador, Dr Patricio Garcés, chargé d’affaires, Embassy of the Republic of Ecuador said, “Being one of the most bio-diverse countries, Ecuador offers countless landscapes that literally are a treat to your eyes. It is popular for its beaches as much as it is for its mountains, snow-capped volcanoes, valleys, rivers, picturesque towns, the Galapagos Islands and a lot more. There are heritage haciendas and boutique hotels. I request everyone to have this lifetime experience by visiting our country.”
Garcés mentioned, “The ‘Ecuador is Love’ campaign presented by the ministry of tourism would include marriages, honeymoons, silver and gold weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, farewells, among others. The promotion of ‘Ecuador is Love’ will begin through the digital media of the ministry of tourism and will be directed to specialised media for the wedding industry.” He added that the promotional campaigns have been focused basically on traditional markets like the US, Europe and Japan, but now India will be included.
Rajbir Singh, MD, Aska Tourism and Consultancy Services said, “We are looking to hold events across the country with the leading tour operators to create awareness and the potential that Ecuador has to offer. Ecuador has a diverse range of tourist destinations, from the Pacific Ocean to the Andes mountain range, the Amazon forests and the history associated with its cities. We would be sending journalists from India who cover tourism for their publications to explore Ecuador and create awareness. Food festivals will also be organised to showcase the lifestyle and culture of Ecuador.”
