Beijing Tourism recently hosted a travel trade meet in New Delhi, where travel trade partners from India gathered to learn about Beijing’s offerings. Speaking to Express TravelWorld, Cao Pengcheng, vice chairman, Beijing Municipal Commission of Tourism Development, stated, “According to a recent report, Beijing has been listed as one of the top five MICE destinations. The various MICE facilities is also one of the tourism offerings that Beijing Tourism will promote in India. We are here hosting this event because we see a growth potential in the India market.”
Inbound market from India has seen year-on-year growth of about 17 per cent, taking the country to the second place among all the countries. Beijing Tousim also expects that there will be more MICE incentives from India visiting Beijing this year, which is also one of Beijing Tourism’s strategies to promote the destination in the India market.
“More than the leisure clients it is the MICE clients who have a higher purchasing power. So we have also established a lot of policies to promote Beijing as a MICE destination; be it the financials or special permits. India has been a big market for China and we wish to tap it further with leisure and MICE travellers,” added Pengcheng.
