US Trade and Development Agency awards grant to India’s DGCA

The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) awarded a grant to India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to support their efforts to continue meeting civil aviation safety standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). This project builds upon previous collaboration between USTDA and DGCA to improve their aviation safety oversight capabilities, which led to India attaining the highest aviation safety rating by ICAO past year.

The Wicks Group, LLC (Washington, DC), a member of the US-India Aviation Cooperation Program, will provide technical expertise to enhance current frameworks and provide continued on-the-job training to DGCA staff.

The technical assistance will allow the DGCA to improve its procedures, requirements and guidance for aviation safety. The assistance will also allow DGCA to continue developing a qualified and capable inspectorate staff and complete further certifications for air carriers and aviation training organisations. Also, this grant will provide the DGCA with more on-the-job training on certification processes and requirements, specialised surveillance approaches and activities, as well as new oversight activities.
