Finnair, UNICEF, (the United Nations children’s organization), and Amadeus, have joined forces to benefit the world’s most underprivileged children. Passengers now have the opportunity to make a donation to UNICEF and support education for children in Asia when booking their flights on the Finnair website. The option will become available as of today and donations will be possible in sums of one, five or ten euros. Donations will help fund UNICEF’s ‘Schools for Asia’ initiative which supports education for the most vulnerable children in 11 countries in Asia. Pekka Vauramo, CEO, Finnair, said, “We want to support educational opportunities with our long-term partners, UNICEF and Amadeus. We’ve traditionally made the collection in-flight, but now passengers can donate as they book their flights at Finnair.com. We hope that passengers will back our aim of providing a better future for many Asian children. Even very small sums can make a big difference, and every donation is significant to those who benefit.” Marja-Riitta Ketola, executive director, the Finnish Committee, UNICEF, said, “Finnair and the Finnish Committee for UNICEF have been raising funds for children together for almost twenty years. We’re extremely pleased to include this new form of cooperation in our partnership, and we warmly welcome on board our new technology partner Amadeus.” Luis Maroto, president & CEO, Amadeus, said, “This partnership with Finnair underpins the global CSR agreement signed with UNICEF by which Amadeus provides the necessary technology through a community platform for online donations. As a long standing travel industry partner for Amadeus, Finnair shares our vision that CSR must be a continued priority for companies wishing to be at the forefront of their respective sectors.”
