Turkish Airlines wants to fly to more cities in India but wants the Indian government to give the permissions.
Speaking to media from Far East, India and Sri Lanka, at Turkish Airlines headquarters in Istanbul, Ilker Ayci, chairman, Turkish Airlines said, “India is an important destination for us. We want to go to Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad but the government has to give us the permissions.”
Turkish Airlines presently flies only from Mumbai and Delhi.
He also announced that very soon the airline would have cabin crew who speak different languages so that they can connect with their passengers in their own language. “We don’t call them passengers or customers. We call them Musafir or guests inTurkish,” said Ayci.
Turkish Airlines expects to fly 64 million passengers this year. It will also be flying to new sectors like Bali in Indonesia and Seychelles.
The new airport coming up in Istanbul will have a capacity of 150 million passengers.
“We fly to the most number of destinations in the world. We are now the 4th biggest airline network in the world. Soon we expect to surpass Frankfurt, Paris and Heathrow airports, ” said Ayci.
He also said that the airline will have new airport lounges in the Far East soon.
He stressed that Istanbul is one of the safest airports in the world and all measures are being taken to ensure that it remains so.
