Slovenian Tourist Board joins PATA
The Slovenian Tourist Board has joined PATA as a National Tourism Organisation (NTO) member. The Slovenian Tourist Board, the tourism division under the SPIRIT Slovenia, Public Agency of the Republic of Slovenia for the promotion of entrepreneurship, innovation, development, investment and tourism, is tasked with the development, marketing and promotion of the sale of the Slovenian tourist offer to European and overseas markets through cooperation and partnership with the tourism industry and other stakeholders.
Karmen Novarlič, MSc, head of the Tourism Division at SPIRIT Slovenia said, “Slovenia is enhancing its involvement in international organisations specialised in the field of tourism, and thus reinforcing and building its reputation and the position of Slovenian tourism in professional institutions and associations. The Asia Pacific region is already an exceptionally important market for the Slovenian tourism industry, accounting for over 10 per cent of all foreign guest arrivals in 2014.”
Located in Central Europe, Slovenia is the only country in Europe that combines the Alps, the Mediterranean, the Pannonian Plain and the Karst. According to the UNWTO, the country saw a 4.8 per cent year on year increase in international visitor arrivals in 2013, from 2.156 million to 2.259 million.
