Peru Travel Mart 2015 to showcase new tourism products
The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur), Magali Silva Velarde-Álvarez has announced the upcoming XXII Peru Travel Mart (PTM), held from May 15–17, 2015 and co-organised by Promperú and the National Chamber of Tourism (Canatur), in a show of teamwork between the public and private sector designed to boost the industry.
Velarde-Álvarez who is also the president of Promperú’s board of directors said, “Peru is one of the most fascinating destinations in South America and the world. A wide array of luxury services with the highest quality standards complement Peru’s rich historical legacy, making our country a product with great potential for international demand.”
One of the event’s cornerstones, she revealed, is a business roundtable in which 130 Peruvian exhibitors and 140 international travel buyers will participate. This will be complemented by a series of seminars designed to deepen foreign tour operators’ knowledge of the many tourist destinations in our country and the activities they offer. The training and new tourism products feature birdwatching, the Qhapaq Ñan route (recently recognised by Unesco), Rural Community Tourism, business tourism and gastronomy, helping to promote and strengthen these sectors in the international market.
The president of CANATUR, Jorge Jochamowitz, highlighted the presence of new international buyers that see Peru as a new option for tourism. He revealed that buyers from the United States, Russia, India, Italy, France, Bangladesh, Canada, Australia and New Zealand have all confirmed their attendance.
Likewise, buyers from Panama, Argentina, Mexico, Ecuador, Bolivia, Chile and Colombia will be present for the first time at Peru Travel Mart 2015. This reflects the foreign public’s interest in tourism in Peru.
