Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) has recalled the tenders which were floated for the development of a marina off Prince’s and Victoria Docks due to some technical issues. The tenders were floated on October 16, 2014 to develop a waterfront area of 84000 sq mtrs approx. and land area of 8000 sq mtrs approx, which was proposed to be leased to the tenderer/developer for developing adequate on-shore and off-shore facilities required for the marina.
Speaking exclusively with Express TravelWorld, Ravi Parmar, chairman, Mumbai Port Trust said, “We have plans to develop a marina on the eastern coast off Prince and Victoria Docks. But due to some technical issues we have withdrawn our tenders. The land and waterfront prices in that area are extremely high and not viable. But we will rework on the tenders and float it again in due course of time.”
The location for the proposed development of marina in Mumbai is well connected by rail and road network of the city. The nearest railway station is Chatrapathi Shivaji Terminus (CST) and by road the site can be accessed by vehicle from the P D Mello Road near ‘Bhaucha Dhakka’.
The tender had included development and operational activities like development and operation of additional berths; water sports at sea side area; shopping arcade; cruise operations; floating restaurants and hotel; restaurants and hotels on land; boat repair facilities, development of lease houses; operation of yacht clubs; operation of parking; fish aquariums and construction and operation of helipad and chopper service at the marina.
