Mauritius Tourism conducts travel agents seminar in Mumbai
Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA)- India and Air Mauritius recently organised a seminar for travel agents in Mumbai. Five Mauritian hotels also participated in the event. The product presentation was conducted by Vivek Anand, country manager, MTPA India and Girish Vidwans, sales and marketing manager India, Air Mauritius. The participating hotels also made product presentations. Eighty travel agents were present at the seminar and it provided a platform for the agents to learn more about the destination.
The objective of the seminar was to update the Mumbai travel trade about the latest developments and product offers in Mauritius. Anand said, “Mumbai is an important market for us and we are overwhelmed to see the response at the seminar. Air Mauritius flies thrice a week from Mumbai and the frequency will be enhanced to five by April end. This makes the destination an easy sell for Mumbai agents.”
Anand added, “Indians visiting Mauritius are increasingly looking for ‘different experiences’ through a varied range of activities and Mauritius offers breathtaking activities like sky diving, ziplining, quad biking, seakarting, submarine rides, helicopter tours. Walking with the lions and safari are other options. Rum and tea tasting tours are also gaining popularity among the tourists. Those who are sports minded, can enjoy a game of Golf at one of the many championship level courses in Mauritius. Indians while in Mauritius also enjoy long drives, shopping or can rejuvenate themselves at the world class spas. Besides its natural splendour, the island has all the key facilities required for organising successful meetings, conferences and events. Luxurious hotel accommodations and attractive wedding packages make Mauritius a popular wedding destination. The DMCs and hotels are geared towards providing all facilities required for large Indian weddings.”
