Irish Open 2015 to kick off from May 28
The European Tour is returning to Northern Ireland for the 2015 Irish Open, Royal County Down Golf Club will host the Irish Open event from May 28 – 31, 2015. It will be the first time in 76 years that the Irish Open will be hosted at the world-famous links course of Royal County Down, while Northern Ireland hosts the event for only the second time in the last 60 years, following the success in 2012 Irish Open at Royal Portrush.
Royal County Down is located in the Murlough Nature Reserve. Against the backdrop of the Mountains of Mourne, the links stretches along the shores of Dundrum Bay, zigzagging back and forth to provide a different vista from virtually every hole. The ninth hole is the most photographed holes in world golf. A 486 yard par four, it is played from one side of a huge mound down to a fairway some 60ft below and 260 yards from the tee. From the bottom of the slope the second shot is played over two bunkers to a raised green. The finest of all links courses, it offers a stern challenge from the championship tees.
Huzan Fraser Motivala and Beena Menon, India representatives, Tourism Ireland said, “This competition provides a great opportunity for golf enthusiasts to experience one of the world’s premier sporting events. The spectacular scenery around the Royal Country Down will provide a wonderful backdrop for the Irish Open.
Tourism Ireland is offering a lucky winner a chance to win a trip for two to witness the Irish Open 2015.
