International SOS for business travellers
International SOS, a medical and travel health services company, which provides medical and assistance services to employees of its member companies, is looking at expanding its footprint among Indian companies. Operating in India since 1998, International SOS in collaboration with Amas Medical Services is involved in bringing Indian companies’ attention towards their employees’ healthcare through ‘duty of care’ campaign.
Dr Myles Neri, group medical director, medical services, International SOS, said, “Employees are under the responsibility of their companies. There is now a common concept across the world in terms of business travellers; there is a ‘duty of care’ of the company. When companies send employees on business trips, they must help the employees to protect themselves from health risks. In order to be safe employers, the companies have to provide medical services.”
Dr Anil Mehra, CEO and managing director, Amas Medical Services, said, “A lot of medical services are provided under fixed protocols and packages, but we give the highest priority to the requirements of our clients, taking into consideration all the important aspects such as the work condition, location, work type and risks.”
Nicolas Bertsché, general manager, India, International SOS, said, “We have the capability to assess risks globally, we have teams to assess medical and travel security risks. We prepare travellers through a pre-travel sesssion, where we inform them about the potential risks of the destination, and ensure that proper measures such as vaccination are taken.”
Speaking on individual travellers, Neri said that individual travellers can also access their services through membership.
