Indians rank 10th in hotel spending abroad: Hotels.com
As per the latest Hotel Price Index (HPI) report by Hotels.com, at INR 9,351 paid per night, Indian travellers stood 10th in spending while booking a hotel room during international travel, in the first half of 2015. Travellers from Argentina took the first place at INR 10,456 a night, followed by travellers from the USA in the second place, spending INR 10,330 a night and Switzerland in the third place, spending INR 10, 238 a night.
The HPI is a regular report on hotel prices in major destinations across the world. The latest edition also revealed that Swiss travellers paid the most on hotel rooms at home, averaging INR 12,088 a night. Domesticaly, travellers from Singapore ranked second, at INR 9,298 and Norway stood third, at INR 9,004 a night.
On domestic basis, Indian travellers ranked fourth in getting the best value accommodation with an average payment of INR 5,346 a night. Travellers from Malaysia paid the least when travelling domestically, with an average of INR 3,645 per night. Travellers from Thailand came in second at INR 4,502 a night while travellers from Russia stood third at INR 5,063 a night.
Out of the 32 countries analysed, 29 countries paid more abroad for travel than at home, with some showing a significant gap between the two amounts. Only three countries paid more at home than abroad; Swiss travellers bearing the highest difference, spending INR 1,850 more domestically than abroad. While travellers from Singapore followed with a difference of INR 1,326 and travellers from Denmark with a difference of INR 82.
