India to include Netherlands in eVisa scheme
The delegation led by prime minister Mark Rutte of the Netherlands has successfully concluded its two-day visit to Delhi and Mumbai, raking in 43 cooperation agreements. In Delhi, prime minister Rutte and prime minister Modi held fruitful and productive discussions during which they concluded to set up a joint working group on terrorism and agreed upon including the Netherlands in the eVisa scheme.
The economic success of the mission is underscored by the total of 43 agreements that have been signed between Dutch and Indian companies. These include a G2G cooperation agreement between the Dutch and Maharashtrian governments regarding the construction of the Mumbai coastal highway and metro plan. Relating to the Netherlands unique position to become a preferred partner in sectors such as water management, infrastructure and agriculture, the countries concluded a detailed ‘Roadmap for Cooperation between India and Netherlands’, released as an annex to the joint statement.
The Netherlands ranks in the top five of India’s European trading partners. Mutual trade currently totals almost six billion euros. At present, there are more than 180 Dutch companies active in India and 160 Indian companies in the Netherlands.
