At the recently held global aviation summit in Mumbai, Qatar Airways made its presence felt with its top management team being present In full force. The airline emphasised the importance of the India market for its business. The Group Chief Executive, H E Akbar Al Baker, reiterated the importance of the India market for the airline and spoke about development and modernisation of the aviation infrastructure in India. He emphasised that said: “India has become the fourth largest civil aviation market after the United States, China and Japan, and is a crucial market for Qatar Airways. With the Indian government planning to invest in developing more than 20 major airports and several smaller airports over the next five years, it’s a very exciting time for the aviation industry in India, and we look forward to discussing these topics this week in Mumbai.”
Qatar Airways currently operates 102 weekly flights between Doha and 13 destinations in India, including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Mumbai, Nagpur and Thiruvananthapuram. The delegation that visited India, was led by the Qatari Minister of Transport, H W Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti, along with Chairman of Qatar’s Civil Aviation Authority, H.E. Abdullah bin Nasser Turki Al-Subaey and Group Chief Executive, H E Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways.
