FTAs on e-Tourist Visa records 179.9% growth in May
India received foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) of 43,833 on e-Tourist Visa, in May 2016, as compared to 15,659 during May 2015, registering a growth of 179.9 per cent, stated a PIB release. USA continues to occupy top slot, followed by the UK and China, amongst the countries availing e-Tourist Visa facility. During January-May, 2016, a total of 4,34,927 tourists arrived on e-Tourist Visa as compared to 1,10,657 during the same period last year, registering a growth of 293 per cent.
In terms of percentage shares of top 10 source countries availing the facility, the USA topped the list with 18.52 per cent, followed by the UK (15.63 per cent), China (8.17 per cent), France (5.16 per cent), Germany (4.91 per cent), Australia (4.50 per cent), Canada (4.49 per cent), UAE (3.01 per cent), Russia (2.79 per cent) and Malaysia (2.12 per cent).
The percentage share among the top 10 ports was topped by New Delhi Airport (45.11 per cent), followed by Mumbai Airport (22.50 per cent), Bengaluru Airport (nine per cent), Chennai Airport (6.63 per cent), Kochi Airport (3.68 per cent), Goa Airport (2.86 per cent), Hyderabad Airport (2.75 per cent) Kolkata Airport (2.63 per cent), Trivandrum Airport (1.42 per cent) and Ahmadabad Airport (1.26 per cent).
