A total of 1,15,677 tourists arrived in March, 2016 on e-Tourist Visa as compared to 25,851 during the same month last year, registering a growth of 347.5 per cent, revealed the PIB release. The results showed that the UK continued to occupy the top slot followed by the USA and Russia, amongst the countries availing e-Tourist Visa facility during March 2016.
The UK contributed the highest percentage share of 27.74 per cent, followed by the USA (13.41 per cent), Russia (7.04 per cent), France (6.55 per cent), Germany (5.18 per cent), China (4.49 per cent), Canada (3.89 per cent), Australia (3.79 per cent), Spain (1.99 per cent) and Ukraine (1.66 per cent).
Whereas, in terms of percentage shares of top 10 ports in tourist arrivals on e-Tourist Visa was topped by New Delhi Airport (46.76 per cent), followed by Mumbai Airport (18.75 per cent), Goa Airport (11.11 per cent), Chennai Airport (5.55 per cent), Bengaluru Airport (5.03 per cent), Kochi Airport (2.82 per cent), Kolkata Airport (2.38 per cent), Amritsar Airport (2.12 per cent), Hyderabad Airport (2.07 per cent) and Trivandrum Airport (1.33 per cent).
