Cabinet approves tourism MoU with Kyrgystan
The Union Cabinet has given its approval for signing an MoU between the Ministry of Tourism, India and Ministry of Cultural, Information & Tourism of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic for strengthening co-operation tourism, stated a PIB release.
The MoU would enable both parties to enter into a constructive dialogue for development and promotion of tourism in each other’s country for the economic development of the two nations. The signing of MoU with the Kyrgyz Republic is considered instrumental in increasing arrival from this source market.
Objectives of the MoU include expanding bilateral co-operation in the tourism sector, exchanging information and data related to tourism, encouraging co-operation between tourism stakeholders including hotels and tour operators, establishing exchange programmes for co-operation in human resource development, investing in the tourism and hospitality sectors, exchanging visits of travel trade and opinion makers, participation in travel fairs and exhibitions, promotion of sustainable tourism and promotions, marketing and destination management.
Kyrgyzstan is a part of CIS countries and is bordered by countries such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. In 2017, tourist arrivals from Kyrgystan to India were recorded at 2729, whereas from January to November 2016, 2883 Kyrgystan tourists visited India.
