Bengaluru- based Décor Aviation will launch services to Thiruvananthapuram and Hubli from Bengaluru following the receipt of flying permit from Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Launched under the brand name Air Pegasus, the airline will begin with two ATRs with 66 seats each, in its fleet and one more schedule (three aircraft) to come in the first week of April. Air Pegasus will become the ninth carrier in the country and the third new airline to take to Indian skies in the past one year after Air Asia and Vistara.
Shyson Thomas, managing director, Air Pegasus said, “We have received an Air Operators Permit from the DGCA, and plan to launch our ticketing system on April 4, 2015 and launch operations by April 12, 2015. We already have two ATR-72 aircraft in our fleet that is sufficient to operate the three sectors we plan to start flights with. The connectivity provided by these routes will help many regional businesses expand their reach to and beyond. We aim to be the truly regional airline brand with more connectivity in existing regions which are under-served and to connect non connected sectors.”
Based out of the Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore, Air Pegasus will initially offer flights to Thiruvananthapuram and Hubli and subsequently these services will be scaled up gradually to connect Kochi, Chennai, Tuticorin, Belgaum and Rajahmundry, Pondicherry, Madurai.
Promoted by ground-handling services provider Decor Aviation, and it will see an initial investment of INR 100 crore through a mix of internal resources and debt. Decor Aviation, which is part of the Decor Group of Companies, provides ground handling services to Indian and foreign carriers across 11 airports in India.
