Active Holiday Company has recently announced a new tour that will enable Indian fans and cycling enthusiasts to witness that world’s greatest cycling adventure ‘Tour de France’ in person. Held annually in France, 2015 will see the 102nd edition of the race. With a global television audience of over 3.5 billion, Tour de France is one of the largest and most popular sporting events in the world.
Starting on July 4, 2015 the race consists of 21 day-long segments also called stages, spread over 23- days and cyclists cover close to 3,500 kms made up of flat and mountainous high-altitude finishes. This event attracts some of the world’s most talented cyclists who come as part of a nine member teams and though only 20-22 teams participate each year, Tour de France has captured the imagination of the world with the tough challenge it offers to cyclists as they test their limits and compete for the coveted yellow jersey at each stage along the stunning routes that France offers.
For the first time, Indians will be able to watch the cyclists in action and even ride on some of the race routes, if they wish to do so. Active Holiday Company is offering a choice of two base tours to witness the race along the race route and an option to view the race finish. The five day trip starts on July 9, 2015 and enables enthusiasts to watch the Brittany stages of the race while the second trip, scheduled from July 21- 26, 2015 focuses on the four Alpine Stages.
