Active Holiday Company to represent Exodus in India
The UK based, world adventure travel firm Exodus has entered into a strategic marketing agreement with Active Holiday Company, to respond to the growing need of Indians who want to travel differently, challenge themselves or engage in outdoor activities when travelling. According to UNWTOs, Global Report on Adventure Tourism, adventure travel is one of the fastest growing segments and Adventure Travel Trade Association’s 2013 survey has pegged the market size at US$ 263 Bn. A recent survey conducted by India based Active Holiday Company revealed that Indian travellers are not far behind with 58.62 per cent respondents claiming that they had engaged in an adventure activity on a holiday in the past two years.
Speaking on their interest in the Indian market, Andrew Appleyard, international sales manager, Exodus said, “As India continues to accelerate in the global economy we believe the time is right to introduce a concept of travel that India has not really had access to. Exodus offer a global array of experiences that satiate the demands of a huge cross section of active travellers who want to experience the world in a different way, especially on bicycles or on foot.”
Speaking on the one of the world’s oldest adventure travel companies coming closer to Indian travellers, Gauri Jayaram, founder, Active Holiday Company said, “Adventure doesn’t have to be uncomfortable or inconvenient and that is what Exodus trips are all about. From trekking to cycling and sailing, Indian travellers are doing more than we as an industry know and the time has come for the industry to go to them, rather than waiting for them to research service providers who can help them tick things off their bucket list.”
The aim of the partnership however is to build awareness of organized adventure travel amongst Indians wanting to explore International destinations. Exodus trips range from 05 days to 22 days, and also operates many tours in India and makes significant contributions to social projects in the country one of them being a Save the Tiger project in Bandhavgarh National Park.
