Festival of Torrone, Cremona, Italy
From November 18 to 25, the Festival of Torrone in Cremona or the Nougat Festival is held in the Lombard city over nine days of shows, cooking demonstrations, children’s workshops, tastings, live music, historical parades and meetings where the focus will be on more than 150 manufacturers of nougat from Italy and the world.
This year Cremona will also celebrate the 60th anniversary of Mina, the great Cremonese artist as well as the greatest Italian voice ever. Visitors can also visit the new Violin Museum which tells the origin and the story of the violin, the building systems of the stringed instruments and their technical and acoustic peculiarities, the story of the most important families of Cremonese Liuthiers, the impressive and long lasting dissemination of the Cremonese violin around the world. It pays tribute to Cremona’s most ancient and known artistic form, the Liutherie which, starting in December of 2012 became part of the UNESCO List of Cultural and Intangible Heritage. Beyond the guided visit that will take the visitors through the rooms of the museum, there are also violin auditions and a visit to a liuthiers’ shop where violins are completely built.
