Coober Pedy
Located in the South Australian desert, Coober Pedy is a small mining town with a population of 2,000 where temperatures reaches 51 °C. This town is flocked by tourists for its underground residences (Dugouts). The town also has a network of underground shops, bars, museums and churches to visit. This sleepy town is also known as the ‘opal capital of the world’ because of the quantity of precious opals that are mined there. Designed in such a way that the interiors reflect the reddish colours of the rock, the underground accommodations of Coober Pedy never disappoint.
