Wayanad
Located on the southern tip of the Deccan plateau, Wayanad is a bio-diverse region spread across 2,132 square kilometres on the Western Ghats. The scenic destination is known for its sub-tropical savannahs, hill stations, spice plantations, forests and cultural traditions. Chembra peak, the highest hill in Wayanad, is the major tourism attraction. The Edakkal Cave in the Ambukuthy Mountain is yet another tourist site, known for carvings from the pre-historic period. Some of the other places of tourists’ interest include Meenmutty Waterfall, the largest waterfall in Wayanad; Pakshipathalam; Kuruva island; Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary; The Pookot Lake; Pazhassi Raja Tomb; and Lakkidi.
