Netarhat, Jharkhand
Netarhat, famously known as the Queen of Chotanagpur Falls, is in the Latehar district of Jharkhand. Fours away from the capital city Ranchi, Netarhat is the highest point of the Chotanagpur plateau. At a height of around 1200 m, the hill station greets vistors with its massive pine trees and colonial architecture. One of the popular points here is the Magnolia point which is situated near the Vindhya Hills. A colonial legend says that a Britsh maiden Magnolia, had plunged to death from the cliff along with her horse as she was forbidden to be with her lover, a local shepherd. The point is dedicated to her and one can witness the mesmerising sunset anyday of the year from this cliff. On the other hand, the sunrise is best viewed at the Koel viewpoint which at a distance of 3 km from Netrahat along with the Koel river that flows through there. Home to around 10 primitive tribes, the hill station is rich in culture and beauty.
