Munnar, Kerala
Situated at the confluence of three mountain streams – Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala – Munnar was once the summer resort of the British government in South India. Munnar lies 1,600 m above sea level and features sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns, winding lanes and numerous holiday facilities. Among the exotic flora found in the forests and grasslands here is the Neelakurinji. This flower which bathes the hills in blue once in every twelve years, will bloom next in 2018. Munnar also has the highest peak in South India, Anamudi, which towers over 2,695 m. Some of the other tourist attractions include Eravikulam National Park, Mattupetty, Pallivasal, Chinnakanal and Anayirangal, and Tea Museum.
