Kohima, Nagaland
Kohima is the capital of Nagaland. The name Kohima is so called because the Britishers could not pronounce its original name ‘Kewhira’ which is the name of the village where Kohima town is located. Kohima has a lot of tourist attractions like the Kohima War Cemetery, which is a memorial in honour of those officers and soldiers killed during the World War II. Dzukou Valley is known for its trekking trails and is frequented by adventure seekers. Tuophema is promoted as an Ancient Heritage Village. Japfu Peak, located at an elevation of 3048 m, is the second highest peak in Nagaland. Dzulekie, surrounded by lush evergreen sub-tropical forests is one of the most beautiful picnic spots around Kohima and Naga Bazzar.
