Helsinki, Finland
Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is a seaside city situated on the Baltic Sea. The archipelago of Helsinki consists of around 330 islands, providing ideal set-ups for days at the beach or weekend camping trips. Many of the islands, such as Suomenlinna and Pihlajasaari, can be reached by a regular ferry from early morning until late at night. A third of Helsinki is covered in green areas. The large Central Park and its forests spread out just outside the city centre. Helsinki is best known for its Art Nouveau architecture. Some connoisseurs have suggested that certain features of Batman’s Gotham City were influenced by Helsinki’s Central Railway Station. Kamppi Chapel of Silence, Linnanmäki Amusement Park, Helsinki Zoo, Ateneum Art Museum, Esplanade Park, National Museum of Finland are some of the popular tourist attractions. EuroGames Helsinki 2016, the biggest LGBTIQ sporting event in Europe, will take place from June 29 to July 2, 2016.
