Also known as the ‘Desert Empire’, the Coachella Valley is a desert valley in southern California and this name is given to differentiate the valley from the other neighbouring urbanised Imperial Valley and the Inland Empire. Home to the resort cities of Palm Springs and Palm Desert, it also offers beautiful attractions like the Indian Wells and Cathedral City. Palm Springs is said to be a miniature version of Hollywood itself. It also offers tough competition to Sundance, Utah with its annual Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival which happens at at the Plaza Theatre. For golf lovers, this place is a perfect destination as the valley offers roughly 125 golf courses making it one of the world’s top-class golf destinations. Apart from this, the valley is currently hosting the The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival which started on April 13 and ends on April 22. The annual event features musical artists from all over the world bringing to the stage many genres of music like rock, indie, hip hop, and electronic dance music, along with majestic sculptures and out of the box art installations.
