Bregenz, Austria
Located on Lake Constance, Central Europe’s third largest lake, Bregenz offers a dense cultural programme coupled with a wide range of outdoor activities. The centerpiece of the 2,000-year-old city at the eastern shores of Lake Constance is the Baroque Martinsturm (St Martin’s Tower) in the medieval town centre. The Kunsthaus Bregenz is an architectural attraction located opposite the marina from where boat trips leave to the island village of Lindau and the flower island of Mainau. Lake Constance also provides the setting for the annual Bregenzer Festspiele, a renowned summer music festival that features a different opera every second year. The region also offers a variety of outdoor sports including cycling, mountain biking, walking, trekking, and of course fantastic slopes for skiing and snowbarding in winter.
