Aizawl, Mizoram
Aizawl is a hill city and the capital of Mizoram, situated about 1,132 metres above sea level. With the peaks of Durtlang in the north, Aizawl is set on ridges of steep hills overlooking the sylvan valley of the river Tlawng in the west and of the river Tuirial in the east and south. The city also possesses landscapes of verdant hills. Aizawl is also the political and cultural centre of Mizoram. Aizawl also plays host to several events and festivals such as Chapchar Kut and Anthurium Festival. Some of the places of interest in and around the city include Bara Bazar, Mizoram State Museum, Durtlang Hills, Hmuifang, Berawtlang Tourist Complex and Baktawng Village. Tourists can also enjoy adventure sports like para gliding in the Durtlang cliffs and rafting in Tlawng river.
