ETW Staff – Mumbai
The Royal Scotsman is set to journey between the iconic cities of Edinburgh and London, exploring some of the very best of the United Kingdom and its famous cities and sights, including Sandringham House, Alnwick Castle, and the city of Cambridge.
A new three-night Majestic England itinerary will depart Edinburgh on August 11, 2013 and September 8, 2014. Stopping first at Alnwick castle for a private tour of the home of the Duke of Northumberland and the Percy family for over 700 years, the Edwardian-style decadent carriages continue west across the rolling North Yorkshire Moors and visit the historic city of York before arriving in Norfolk. An exclusive private drinks reception at Sandringham House and Estate, the residence of The Queen, follows a stroll around the stunning grounds before re-joining the train for dinner and dancing on the mid-Norfolk railway line near the town of Dereham.
From Norfolk, the journey south towards the English capital stops en route in Cambridge, home to one of the world’s most famous universities. Prices start from US$5,432 per person.
Meanwhile, a new four-night classic golf tour has been introduced to the schedule departing Edinburgh on May 18 and 22 September 2014. Golf enthusiasts can practice their swing at three of Scotland’s courses, Royal Dornoch, Castle Stuart and Cruden Bay.
The train has the lure of a luxury country house party, accommodating just 36 guests in beautifully appointed en-suite cabins. The observation car is a spot to sit back, relax and take in the views and retreat to after dining in the restaurant cars and taste some whiskies from the bar, including the train’s exclusive collection.
