Shripad Yesso Naik takes charge as tourism minister

Shripad Yesso Naik has been appointed as minister of state (independent charge) for ministry of tourism. Interacting with the media, Naik said, “All efforts would be made to boost tourism in the country and efforts would be made to remove the bottlenecks that may be impeding the smooth inflow of tourists in the country.” Naik informed that an amount of INR18 crore has been sanctioned for the development of the ghats of Banaras including construction of Jattis. He also said that security of tourists would be given top priority.
Later, Naik was briefed on the key initiatives, mandate and policy framework of the ministry by secretary (Tourism) and other senior officials of the ministry.
