Rajasthan prioritises nine tourism projects

Nine tourism infrastructure projects worth INR97.50 crore for Rajasthan have been prioritised for the year 2014-15 by the Government of India. These projects are a part of the Central Sponsored Scheme (CSS) of the Union Tourism Ministry. This was informed by Sanjay Pande, additional director development, department of tourism, Government of Rajasthan.
Pande further informed that among the prioritised projects is the development of mega desert circuit (Jaisalmer-Jodhpur-Bikaner-Sambhar-Pali-Mount Abu) to the tune of INR50 crore. Furthermore, the Union Government has also sanctioned INR50 lakh for organisation of fairs and festivals.
In the year 2013-14, eleven CSS projects worth INR57 crore were approved for Rajasthan. First phase of release of amount INR12.35 crore has also been received by the state government in June 2014. The projects include enhancement of tourist facilities at the seven way-side motels of Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) and renovation / beautification of Palace on Wheels.
