Odisha Tourism signs MoU with TERI

In its efforts to conserve energy, Odisha Tourism recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) to encourage energy conservation in the tourism sector and for inputs on sustainable habitats in various tourism projects. On behalf of Odisha Tourism, MR Patnaik, general manager, Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC), signed the MoU, while Milli Majumdar, director, TERI signed on the dotted lines.
“TERI will carry out an energy audit and advise us on changes that can be brought in our utilities to save power. This apart, TERI will advise us to ensure that our future constructions are Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA) compliant,” said Patnaik.
As per the terms of the MoU, TERI will provide advisory inputs on sustainable habitants relating to various projects implemented by OTDC/ Odisha Tourism Department circuit and destination development projects. TERI will provide inputs to make existing projects and properties green and energy efficient.
On new projects TERI, will assist the department how to comply with Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment. TERI will also undertake training program/ capacity building for Odisha Tourism Department officials.
