Lavasa Women’s Drive to see international participation this year

Lavasa Women’s Drive, the All Women Drive is expecting to see 2000 women participating in this drive from Mumbai and Pune to Lavasa this year. The theme for the 6th edition of the popular all women’s car drive is ‘Hat’s Off’, which celebrates the spirit of a woman. In keeping with the spirit of womanhood the participants will spread awareness about various issues affecting women by displaying social messages on their cars.
Rajgopal Nogja, group COO and director, HCC said, “Lavasa Women’s Drive an innovative concept that has grown in size and popularity. The drive has always captured multiple aspects – the fun, adventure and spirit of the Indian woman combined with her passion for social causes. For the first time the Drive will also see international participation. Women from neighboring countries are travelling to Mumbai and Pune to participate. Flagship events like Lavasa Women’s Drive have helped spread awareness about Lavasa in India and the globe.”
The Lavasa Women’s Drive conducted in Time/Speed/Distance (TSD) format, will run in compliance with the International sporting code. The Drive will be flagged off from Mumbai and Pune on 22nd February 2014 in the morning and participants have to drive to Lavasa with the help of Tulip Chart. Each car needs to have minimum of two women participants in the form of Driver and Navigator.
To cater to the massive demand for participation and ensure that the process for selection is fair, a referral system has been put in place. Aspirants generating maximum number of votes will be the lucky ones to drive to the beautiful hill city, Lavasa. Past editions of the drive have seen over 7000 women collectively generate more than 27 lakh votes for themselves from friends and acquaintances’ from over 93 countries.
