Jordan targets India market for MICE tourism

Jordan is a unique MICE destination providing the best in conference and meeting venues and facilities along with world famous historical and cultural sights. From the monolithic rockscapes of Wadi Rum to the buzzing city of Amman; from the majestic ruins of Petra to the healing properties of the Dead Sea; all combined with with high standard hotels with modern facilities, cuisine and modern infrastructure make it the ideal choice for a business meeting, incentive group and large conferences.
Jordan Tourism Board had organised MICE Evenings in Delhi and Mumbai recently. The event was organised in association with Yatra. The attendees included corporate top management, senior staff of MNCs and other guests. The evening was to update them about the air connectivity, visa, hotels, convention centres, food and important sites of Jordan and its viability as a MICE destination.
A presentation on Jordan was given by Ashit Taneja, country manager, Jordan Tourism Board, India Office. The finale of the evening was a grand lucky draw where the winners in each city received an all expenses paid trip to Jordan, including hotel stay, sightseeing and return air ticket for two.
DUSAID Economic Growth Through Sustainable Tourism Project is a committee comprising of public and private sector representatives including destination management companies, hotels, conference venues and independent event organisers. A five-year (2014 – 2019) MICE sector strategy and three-year action plan will be implemented by the Jordan Tourism Board in collaboration with the local tourism trade. The strategy is one in a series of initiatives recently implemented by the USAID Tourism Project to develop Jordan’s MICE sector.
