AVIAREPS has been appointed as general sales agent (GSA) in India by airberlin, Germany’s second-largest airline and strategic partner of Etihad Airways, marking the airline’s next step in developing its presence in the Indian market. AVIAREPS India will work closely with airberlin to strengthen its relationship with the Indian travel trade, enhance airberlin awareness leading to increase sales from India.
Commenting on the partnership, Joseph Fernandes, general manager, AVIAREPS India, said, “We are very excited to be representing airberlin which is one of Europe’s leading carriers. The airline has been ‘wowing’ flyers across the world with its award winning service. We see a lot of potential for airberlin in India given the strong worldwide network, outstanding service levels and close partnership with Etihad Airways.
Speaking on the occasion, Stella Warmuth, area manager, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Africa, airberlin, said, “We are looking forward to work with AVIAREPS in India to grow our presence in the country. The Indian economy is one of the fastest growing economies in the world today. The outbound travel market is also growing rapidly and is expected to touch the 50 million mark by 2020. We would like to ensure, that we have a significant amount of share in this market.”
