BAOA announces appointments of new president, VP and Governing Board
Following the biennial elections held at Business Aircraft Operators Association’s (BAOA) annual general meeting of 2015, the association has announced new composition of its Governing Board and key appointments. Jayant Nadkarni, co-founder and COO of Invision Air, a Mumbai based non-scheduled aircraft operator, is the new president of BAOA. He takes over reigns of the association from Rohit Kapur who stepped down after having completed two consecutive terms as president of the association. Coming from a military aviation background, Jayant Nadkarni has been an active member of BAOA’s Governing Board for the last four years. Col. Sanjay Julka of India Fly Safe has been appointed as the vice president of BAOA and Harsh Vardhan Sharma of Himalayan Heli Services will continue to preside over the duties of treasurer.
Leadership and members of the new Governing Board at BAOA believe that the general and business aviation sector in India is now at an inflection point, from were it can show positive growth, provided the right decisions are taken today. However, ill informed decisions and rules can grounded the sector. By several measures, there has been a slowdown in the last two years wherein the number of business aircraft in the country has gone down. This negative growth needs to be rectified immediately through policy measures that bring back vitality of the industry, which accords a multiplier effect for our economy and is a creator of highly skilled jobs.
