General Hotel Management, (GHM) is to operate two hotels in India by 2014. Speaking about the development Clement Koh, VP – Sales and Marketing GHM said, “The Delhi project – The Chedi Qutub will be operational by 2014. The Setai Mumbai is scheduled to open in December 2013.” The Mumbai property is being developed on Central Mumbai’s mill lands. The 40-keys The Setai brand is the highest of the GHM brands. “According to our estimates we will be looking at a rate of US$ 600 for these luxury rooms,” added Koh. The 107-room The Chedi Qutub in Delhi, as reported last year by Express TravelWorld, will be located within the ancient Qutub Complex – a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.
GHM manages brands like The Chedi, The Setai, The Ananti apart from few other distinct properties primarily in southeast Asia. The company will also operate two hotels in China and Switzerland next year. The inclusion of India, in GHM’s brand portfolio will further enhance their position in India as a luxury hotel chain. GHM is also looking at India as a strong source market for its other hotels. “India contributes between one-three per cent of our global business, but we see great potential and have to work with the market in these early days,” said Koh.
