The government of Odisha will soon launch a new tourism policy focused on wooing private investments into the sector. Confirming the development to Express TravelWorld, Prafulla Samal, minister of Tourism & Culture, government of Odisha said, “We will soon release a new tourism policy with a thrust to attract private investments for development of tourism infrastructure in the state. We are in the process of preparing the draft policy. We are studying and incorporating the salient features of the policy documents of other state governments.” The state already has drawn up a perspective plan for 15 per cent growth in tourist arrivals within the next five years. Samal pointed out that to promote tourism, Odisha has to develop new destinations besides the already popular ones.
