Pahalgam, Kashmir
Pahalgam, a hill station in Jammu and Kashmir is famous for its scenic beauty and is the jewel of the picturesque Liddar valley. The Aru Wildlife Sanctuary, the scenic Betaab Valley (named after the Sunny Deol-Amrita Singh movie which was filmed here) and the beautiful 18-hole golf course are some of the must see places. Pahalgam is ideal for activities like hiking, trekking and fishing. It is also the starting point of the annual pilgrimage to the holy cave of Amarnath which is said to be the abode of Lord Shiva. Every year in the month of July/August, thousands of pilgrims descend on Pahalgam on their way to the holy cave. Many movies like Khel Khel Mein, Khamosh, and parts of the more recent Salman Khan starrer Bajrangi Bhaijaan have been filmed here.
