The Alfred High School, currently known as Mohandas Gandhi High School in Rajkot, opened in 1875. Mahatma Gandhi studied in this school from 1880 to 1887, and passed out from here at the age of 18. One of the oldest educational institutions in India, the school was closed in 2017 by the authorities and it will be converted into a museum.
