Museum Nightlife in New York City
Everyone knows that New York City has some of the world’s greatest museums, but fewer visitors might be aware that those institutions are increasingly places to hang out at night, listening to a DJ set or live music and drinking a cocktail. Each summer, Cooper Hewitt’s garden comes to life with weekly performances on Thursday evenings. All summer, the museum celebrates inclusivity and showcases a diverse and dynamic range of genres, kicking off with the series’ first ever Pride Night (in June) featuring drag hostess Horrorchata and her crew of Bushwig beauties. Other highlights of the 2018 season in subsequent weeks are: Heidi Latsky Dance (July 19) and Atlantic Records Presents Clara Mae (August 2). The museum’s first- and second-floor galleries remain open until 7 pm, and admission is included with ticket purchase.
