India has always been one of the key source markets for Mauritius, and the focus has continued to grow stronger over the years. “Our main motto is to increase inbound tourism to Mauritius and give a fillip to the average footfall ” said Vijaye Haulder, director of tourism, Republic of Mauritius.
Speaking about the current frequency of tourist arrival in Mauritius, Haulder stated that the tourism department is planning to increase the overall tourist footfall by 10 per cent. “We are putting in efforts to achieve our target. From now on, there will be daily flights to Mauritius from Mumbai and four flights to Mauritius from New Delhi in a week. We have also started providing incentives under MICE to those corporates who travel to Mauritius for various business purpose. We make sure that they are provided with the best accommodation and hospitality,” informed Haulder.
“Many people consider Mauritius nothing more than a honeymoon destination but we are putting in all effort to change this notion and are looking forward to establishing our country as a family destination too. Since Mauritius has a tropical climate which is aided by serene coastlines and different fun activities like golf, water sporting, we hope that it will soon become the most visited family destination too,” added Haulder.
