India witnessed a total of 162,250 foreign tourist arrivals (FTA) in December 2016 on e-tourist visa as compared to 103,617 during December 2015, registering a growth of 56.6 per cent. The UK (22.4 per cent) continued to occupy the top slot, followed by the USA (16.4 per cent) and Russia (7.7 per cent) among countries availing e-tourist visa facility during December 2016. Whereas, during January-December period in 2016, a total of 10,79,696 tourists arrived on e-tourist visa as compared to 4,45,300 during the same period in 2015, marking a growth of 142.5 per cent.
The percentage shares of top 10 source countries availing e-tourist visa facilities during December, 2016 was lead by the UK (22.4 per cent), USA (16.4 per cent), Russia (7.7 per cent), China (5.3 per cent), Australia (4.6 per cent), France (4.1 per cent), Germany (four per cent), South Africa (3.7 per cent), Canada (3.7 per cent) and Republic of Korea (two per cent).
Whereas, the percentage shares of top 10 ports was lead by New Delhi Airport (36.6 per cent), followed by Mumbai Airport (23.1 per cent), Dabolim (Goa) Airport (13.6 per cent), Chennai Airport (six per cent), Bengaluru Airport (5.1 per cent), Kochi Airport (4.7 per cent), Kolkata Airport (2.5 per cent), Hyderabad Airport (2.4 per cent), Trivandrum Airport (1.9 per cent) and Ahmadabad Airport (1.7 per cent).
