Academy of Hospitality Skills (AHS), Kolkata’s first hospitality finishing school was recently launched in the city with an aim to provide quality manpower for the growing hospitality sector in the country. Mentored by Rajiv Gujral, chairman, Council of Advisors, AHS and former president of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), AHS will provide two courses in the hospitality sector – for graduates of any discipline and class 10th pass-outs.
The finishing course for graduates is for three-months while the hospitality training for students with high school education or less is a six weeks course.”There is a huge gap in getting quality manpower to cater to the rising demands for trained professionals in the hospitality industry, irrespective of many institutes providing varied courses. Though the students have the required technical prerequisites, they still require grooming to add finesse in their style of working. AHS will make them suitable for jobs in top and established hotel chains,” he said, adding that AHS would be initially focusing on West Bengal and then plan for expansion in other states.
