Chittorgarh, Rajasthan
Located on the banks of Dambhiri and Berach rivers, Chittorgarh possesses a historical significance in Rajasthan. A former capital of the Sisodia dynasty of Mewar, Chittorgarh is known for stories of Rajputanas. The city is named after its most imposing structure, the Chittorgarh Fort which stands atop a 180-metre-high hill and is spread across 700 acres. Alongside palaces and forts associated with the city’s history, Chittorgarh also has numerous ancient temples. Some of the renowed tourism attractions include Rani Padmini’s Palace, Vijay Stambh (Tower of Victory), Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame), Fateh Prakash Palace, Kalika Mata Temple, Gaumukh Reservoir, Ratan Singh Palace, Rana Kumbha Palace, Kumbha Shyam Temple among others. In terms of connectivity, the city well is accessible by trains from across the country. Regular bus services are also available from various cities of Rajasthan, and the nearest airport is Dabok in Udaipur, which is about 105 kms away.
